The Los Angeles Angels have acquired Justin Upton from the Detroit Tigers for minor league pitcher Grayson Long and a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Upton, 30, is hitting .279 with 28 homers and 94 RBIs this season.

He signed a six-year, $132 million contract in January 2016. He's owed $88 million over the next four seasons but has the option to opt out of the deal in November.

The Seattle Mariners have acquired Mike Leake from the St. Louis Cardinals for the stretch run of the season.

The Cardinals received minor league shortstop Rayder Ascanio, international cap space totaling $750,000 and cash considerations in the deal.

Leake has struggled since the All-Star break, going 1-5 with a 6.90 ERA in nine starts since July 14.

The Texas Rangers have acquired Minor League outfielder Pedro Gonzalez from the Colorado Rockies as the player to be named later in Jonathan Lucroy trade.

Gonzalez, 19, was rated as Colorado's No. 14 prospect by MLB.com.

The Boston Red Sox acquired Rajai Davis from the Oakland Athletics for Minor League outfielder Rafael Rincones on Wednesday.

The Red Sox made the move just hours after placing Jackie Bradley, Jr. on the disabled list.

Davis has swiped 26 bases in 32 attempts this season and has 391 career steals. Even if Bradley hadn't injured his thumb on a slide on Tuesday night, the Red Sox were interested in picking up Davis before Sept. 1 as a pinch runner down the stretch and possibly in the playoffs.

"It's important for a club that has a chance, you want to add every little dimension you can, but it's not always easy," Dave Dombrowski said.

"It's a situation to have that type of person that you can put on first base and they can steal a big base at a time when other people know they're going to steal. It's a nice situation to have."

The Houston Astros have acquired Tyler Clippard from the Chicago White Sox for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Clippard was traded to the White Sox by the New York Yankees just last month.

He has a 4.27 ERA, 1.295 WHIP, 4.39 FIP and 54 strikeouts across 46.1 innings this season.

The Cleveland Indians have acquired Jay Bruce from the New York Mets for pitching prospect Ryder Ryan.

Cleveland will pick up the approximately $4.2 million that's left of Bruce's $13 million salary this season, a source confirmed.

Bruce gives the Indians a corner outfielder and bat to replace Michael Brantley, who went on the disabled list Monday with a sprained ankle. Lonnie Chisenhall has also been on the disabled list since early July with a strained calf.

The Texas Rangers have sold Ernesto Frieri to the Seattle Mariners for $1.

The Rangers signed Frieri as a minor league free agent on June 15. He was 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA in six relief appearances.

Seattle assigned Frieri to Triple-A Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League.

The Athletics have traded first baseman Yonder Alonso to the Mariners for minor league outfielder Boog Powell.

Alonso, 30, is having a breakthrough power season while playing on a one-year contract, batting .266 with a career-high 22 home runs and 49 RBIs.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are turning to a familiar face in their attempt to stay in the crowded National League Central race.

Pittsburgh claimed veteran utility infielder Sean Rodriguez off waivers from Atlanta on Saturday and sent the Braves minor league infielder Connor Joe in return.
